Algonquin Provincial Park
Established in 1893, Ontario's oldest provincial park protects a wide network of lakes, rivers and portage routes along the Highway 60 corridor and beyond.
The park covers roughly 7,600 square kilometres of the Canadian Shield between Georgian Bay and the Ottawa River. The Highway 60 corridor is the accessible edge of it, with roadside trailheads, canoe access points, camping and the visitor centre; beyond that, interior canoe routes run for days. Spring and autumn are quieter, and autumn colour draws the largest crowds.
