The Kawartha Lakes
A chain of shallow lakes linked by the Trent-Severn Waterway, good for paddling, fishing and lock-side stops.
The Kawartha lakes, from Balsam and Cameron through Sturgeon, Pigeon, Buckhorn and Chemong, are joined by the Trent-Severn Waterway, so a boat or kayak can travel from village to village through the locks. The water is warm and weedy, with bays that hold bass and muskie. Services cluster around the lock stations; check the waterway schedule before planning a route.
