Muskoka quietens down in winter, and the main streets stay open. This outline assumes you have a car and winter tires, and that you book accommodation and any ski or snowshoe rental before the weekend. Check trail conditions, opening hours and road reports before setting out.

  1. Day 1Arrive in Bracebridge and walk the main street before heading to Bracebridge Falls, which runs hard in winter. Keep the afternoon short, then eat in town and settle in early.
  2. Day 2Choose one outdoor outing for the day: snowshoe or ski at Arrowhead Provincial Park, or the groomed trails at a local ski hill. Book rentals ahead and check whether the park's skating trail has opened for the season.
  3. Day 3Drive to Huntsville for a late breakfast and a walk along the waterfront, then take in the lit trail at Sandhill Nursery if it is running. Leave time for the drive home before dark.
